The Punjab Solar Panel Scheme is a scheme by the Chief Minister of Pujab Maryam Nawaz that aims to provide free solar panels to low-income Punjab families facing high electricity bills. Under the Punjab Solar Panel Scheme, free solar panels will be provided to low-income families, thus they would not have to pay heavy electricity bills. The Punjab Solar Panel Scheme offers a solar system free of cost to eligible families after registration. Free-of-cost solar system will be provided through the scheme to the people whose monthly electricity consumption will be less than 200 units. A 2 KV solar system will be offered to the eligible households through this scheme.

The Punjab Solar Panel Scheme will provide free solar systems to the people of Punjab who face high electricity bills. Among some objectives of the Punjab Solar Panel Scheme are as follows.

This scheme will work for the Green Punjab goal also and increase air quality due to lesser amounts of fossil fuel used to cause electricity in power plants.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria have been set by the government of Punjab for Punjab Solar Panel Scheme. With these eligibility criteria, people who get benefited are being availed to get a solar system through this scheme. Follow the given eligibility criteria below to become eligible for this scheme;

Consumption of electricity should not exceed 200 units within the categories given below.

• 0-50 Units (Life Line)
• 51-100 Units (Life Line)
• 0-100 Units (Protected/Unprotected)
• 101-200 Units (Protected/ Unprotected)

Having sanction load up to 2KW

Eligibility for the Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme will be checked according to the bills for June 2024. After meeting the eligibility criteria, you can register for the Punjab Solar Panel scheme. After successful registration, the eligible people will be provided with a solar system of 2KW.

Exclusions In Punjab Solar Panel Scheme

There are some exclusions mentioned in this Program, according to which the ineligibility will be checked. Your ineligibility may be subject to one of the exclusions set for the ineligibility in the Punjab Solar Panel’s Scheme. These exclusions include;

• Involvement in electricity theft.
• Having a defective meter.
• Having multiple meter connections at a single residence.
• Payment default: missing bill payments of 3 months in the last 12 months.

Registration For Punjab Solar Panel Scheme

To register for the Punjab Solar Panel Scheme, complete every single step to get a Free Solar System through the Punjab Solar Panel’s Scheme. You can register for the Punjab Solar Panel’s Scheme by using any of the following methods;

Online Portal

You can log in using the online portal provided at the official website: cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk. There, you have to enter the following information for registering for the Punjab Free Solar Panel’s Scheme;

• Your Name.
• Your Email ID.
• Your Mobile Number.
• CNIC Number.
• Create a Password.
• Confirm the Password.
• Insert the Captcha given in the picture.
• Then click on the “Register” button at the end.

While filling out the form, please make sure you are providing the right information. If you provide the wrong information you will not be able to get any solar system from this program.

SMS Registration:

You will have to send your bill’s Reference-Number and your CNIC Number to 8800 to register in the Punjab Solar Panel’s Scheme using the SMS service, in the following format;

“Reference-Number CNIC Number”

Distribution Method And Details

After the successful registration of the applicants, the eligible people will be selected by the lottery system. The selection procedure will be online to ensure the transparency of this scheme. If your name is present in the selected people list, you will have to proceed with the physical verification after that your solar system will be installed at your home free of cost. Solar Panels will be distributed on the following basis in the Punjab Free Solar Panel’s Scheme;

1. House with up to 100 units: The households whose monthly electricity consumption is up to 100 units will receive a solar system of 550 watts.
2. Houses with 101-200 Units: The households whose monthly electricity consumption is between 101-200 will receive a solar system of 1100 watts.

Last Date For Registration

The last date for the submission of applications to the Punjab Solar Panel’s Scheme is January 5, 2024. You will have to register before the last date for a successful application. If you fail to apply during this period, no extra time for the submission of the application will be provided. After applying for the scheme, your application will be reviewed and you will be informed about your application status.
